Discover de Le Cuona at Galerie Nicolas Deman, 12 rue Jacques Callot-75006 Paris. Savage Couture shows the beauty of linen in all its refined and rugged guises. This classic cloth combines with silk, wool, parchment and metallic to create layers of luxurious textiles distinguished by their feel and iconic weight.
Artisan techniques and handcrafted detail underpin each fabric. In the hands of Bernie de Le Cuona these traditional ways create new effects. Cleopatra, a delicious silk linen falls like a floor-sweeping gown, Persia a tweed crosses a tapestry and Chanel jacket woven in ribbons and tapes, metallic threads loose their heaviness in Treasure a sublime mesh-style linen with a hint of beaten silver, Vintage linen is painted like canvas or beaten-up with a Flint finish.
The chic couture-inspired Mirage pendant lights are cocoons of coloured, woven stainless steel and organza creating a semi-transparent glow. The artisan technique used to create the sculptural shade from this lustrous metallic fabric has a millinery touch. The hues are blush pink, storm grey and mist white.
Nature and couture converge in the new collections by award-winning designer Michaela Schleypen at FRONT, Maison & Objet, hall 8 - stand C24. Her sensory, fashion-led Tweed rugs fuse her natural free-spirit style with incredibly complex techniques.
FRONT also presents Jan Kath’s new rugs. The Cloud series is inspired both by the works of Baroque artists who painted skies in domes of magnificent churches and the seascapes of the Dutch masters. These multilayered cloudscapes are beautiful and one is coloured in the shades of sunset skies and pink powder. A rug to warm up the cold Winter sun of Paris in Winter.
