The Lacquer Company
The Lacquer Company was founded by James Lowther in 2008. James’ approach to design has developed with a modern sensibility whilst retaining English influences from his first job at Colefax & Fowler. He bought his first piece of lacquer whilst travelling in Burma; an antique betel box in burnt orange. He scoured Asia to find highly skilled craftsmen in Saigon to make the finest examples. Designers such as Rita Konig, Steven Gambrel and Veere Grenney have collaborated on pieces which can be found online and in the new London showroom at 6 Newson’s Yard, on the Pimlico Road.
